2.5.3 Set Up Custom Domain

The Custom Domain feature in AgencyHandy allows users to use their own website address (e.g., www.yourbusiness.com) with the platform. By setting up a custom domain, users can enhance their brand identity, create a professional online presence, and make it easier for people to find and remember their site using a familiar web address.

Purpose:

Setting up a Custom Domain is essential for the following reasons:

  • Brand Reinforcement: Using a custom domain reinforces brand identity by incorporating the business name into the website address, creating a cohesive online presence.

  • Professionalism: A custom domain adds credibility and professionalism to the website, making it more appealing to visitors and potential clients.

  • Ease of Access: Having a memorable and easy-to-remember web address makes it convenient for users to access the website, leading to increased traffic and engagement.

Pre-condition to Use the Feature:

  • Users must own a domain name

  • Users must have the authority to modify DNS settings for the desired domain.

Steps to Use:

  • Access Workspace Settings: Navigate to the workspace settings section within AgencyHandy.

  • Select Custom Domain Option: Locate and click on the Custom Domain option. Click the "+ Add Custom Domain" button.

  • Enter Domain Name: Enter the desired domain name (e.g., www.yourbusiness.com) in the provided field.

This will create a table with 3 columns.

  • Type: Here, the type will show your domain type. It will be CNAME.

  • Name: This is the place where you will set your domain identity.

  • Write anything that you want to be named before the domain name and end with a dot(.) For example, here, the name will be a client, so "client." is placed before the domain name.

  • Value: The value is basically the content name information for the DNS record. Copy and paste it into the DNS record setup.

  • Verify Ownership: Follow the verification process to confirm ownership of the domain. This may involve adding a DNS record or verifying ownership through an email confirmation.

  • Configure DNS Settings: Access your domain registrar or hosting provider's DNS settings. Add the necessary DNS records provided by AgencyHandy to connect the custom domain to your workspace. Add the records and click Save.

  • Verify and Save Changes: Once the DNS settings are configured, verify the domain connection within AgencyHandy. Click on the "Save Domain" button to apply the custom domain settings.

  • At first, the status will show as "Disconnected." Don't worry; wait for some time to get the domain live worldwide. Domain-wise, it can take 2 min—24 hours.

  • To check the status of the custom domain, click the "Refresh" button. Once connected, the status will show "Connected."

Pro Tip:

Use any DNS checker (e.g., https://dnschecker.org/) to check your Custom Domain Status. Copy the domain link, paste it into any DNS checker, and click Search. If there's a tick at the side of all the countries around the world, then your Custom Domain is live. If any country isn't marked as a tick, that means your Domain is not live. Wait for a moment and check again.

Important Note:

  • You can delete an added custom domain at any time. Click the "Delete" button, and a confirmation modal will pop up.

  • You can add any deleted custom domain again to your account. To do that, follow the whole process again.
